I hope that you as a student will be better able to use this website to keep your school activites and assignments more organized.  Research has proven that organizational skills are very important to student achievement.

As the head administrator of Horseshoe Bend School, I want students and parents to know that we are going to do our best to make sure that Horseshoe Bend School is safe and that discipline will be enforced.  I would particularly like to request that you read and understand the sections of the Code of Conduct that deal with Class 1, Class 2, Class 3, and Class 4 offenses.   If violations occur, the administration of Horseshoe Bend School will enforce the recommended punishment for the offense.  It is very important to note the offenses in order to be aware of and not violate the rule.  Please note that some violations call for assignment to the Tallapoosa County Alternative School.  It is not a pleasant task when we have to recommend someone to be placed at the alternative school, but if the violation occurs, we will not hesitate to make the recommendation.  Also note that on Class 3 and 4 offenses, a police report will be filed, and it will be up to the law enforcement authorities to act on the offense.

I strongly urge you to have a good attendance record and not be absent unless it is necessary.  If you are absent, you need to present a reason for the absence to the office upon return to school.  Please note than upon having three unexcused absences, a letter will be sent to your parents notifying them of your third unexcused absence.  A second letter will be sent upon having five unexcused absences.  A third letter will be sent for seven unexcused absences.  Also, after the seventh absence, a letter will be sent to the Tallapoosa County Juvenile Court.  The juvenile court will then do the necessary paper work which will generate a summons for you and your parents to appear before the judge in juvenile court.  I will also receive a summons and have to appear in court. Our computer system automatically generates the letters, so it is very important that you not have unexcused absences.

It is very important that you read and understand the Code of Conduct as well as the Generals Commands section.  They both contain information that is very important.  There is a page in the book for you and your parents to sign indicating that you have read the information and understood what you have read.
