• A Message From the Superintendent

    Mr. Raymond C. Porter

    Raymond C. Porter, Superintendent of Tallapoosa County Schools since January 1, 2021, has a long and distinguished 17-year career with Tallapoosa County Schools. He has been a Tallapoosa County resident since he was in the 4th grade.  He received a BS in Social Science while serving in the United States Air Force.  After leaving the USAF, he joined Russell Corporation where he served in multiple managerial capacities.  He began his educational career as a special education teacher and baseball coach at Edward Bell School, during this time he acquired a Masters in Special Education before moving to Reeltown High School and teaching in special programs

    After completing his certification in Instructional Leadership, Mr. Porter continued to progress in his career by becoming Director of On-Line Learning and Alternative Programs at Crossroads located on Dadeville High School's campus. Then, he transitioned to Principal at Reeltown Elementary School, leading the school to its highest A-F Report Card ranking ever while also being recognized as a CLAS School of Distinction in his second year.

    Since taking office, Mr. Porter has worked tirelessly advocating for increased compensation and improved working conditions for the District's nearly 400 employees. He has directed major construction projects on three campuses to create equity and opportunity across the District.  His people-centered approach has made a true difference in the lives of many. He has a passion for teaching and learning and providing excellent educational opportunities for the students of Tallapoosa County. He looks forward to continuing the successes that the District has enjoyed in recent years and creating more opportunities for students both while in school and after graduation.
