Welcome to the DHS social studies department. The goal of our department is to help our students become more responsible citizens through the study of all the social studies disciplines. Governmental and economic issues directly affect both the education and the standard of living for our students. World events and the need to be competitive in the global economy require students to be knowledgeable about the economic, geographic historical, and political perspectives of the world and its people. Through mastering the standards of the social studies curriculum students can become informed and active citizens better prepared for dealing with the challenges of the 21st century.
Social Studies Course of Study- These are the skills your student will be responsible for learning at each grade level in Social Studies.
